This morning we made paper chains to count down to Halloween and to Ethan's birthday party. I wish I could take the credit for this, but I snagged the idea from Ethan's little church paper that he gets every week. Ethan's chain is the blue one and Aidan's is green (I thought he might like to pull off links too, even if he doesn't understand why). Every morning Ethan gets to take off a link. The orange link means it's Halloween, and when he gets to green, it's the day of his birthday party.

He couldn't quite get the hang of folding the paper strips into links, so finally we decided he would just put on the glue, and he was perfectly content doing that.

We were going to hang them off a doorknob, but I realized it probably wasn't the best idea to leave them where Aidan could reach, so we're just going to keep them put up for now and take them down in the morning. Once a couple links are gone, we can hang them off the drawer pulls on the china cabinet.

Ethan can't wait to get started tomorrow morning.

What a neat idea. We've been counting down to Granmom and Grandad's arrival. Next time I'm stealing your paper chain idea!
