Don't ask your kids what they want to eat.

You might not like the answer.

Here's the conversation I had with my 2-year-old:

Mommy: Ethan, what do you want for lunch?
Ethan: Yes.
Mommy: What do you want to eat?
Ethan: Yeah.
Mommy: No, sweetie, what do you want to eat??
Ethan: *thinks for a couple of seconds* Cookies.
Mommy: Cookies?! *laughing*
Ethan: Cookies. Yes.

No, he didn't get cookies for lunch. I actually forgot all about the cookies by the time lunch was over and so did he. I made it up to him today. He had cookies after lunch today. He called them "black cookies." They were Oreos.
